Napa Valley is heart of California's established wine country. Today, California offers several fantastic wine areas, but Napa remains among the most popular for both the quality of wines from the region and as a wonderful vacation destination. Activities, such as wine tastings and spa treatments are great choices for group travelers, and Napa offers lots of great choices. Napa is an excellent choice for group trips of all kinds, including girlfriend getaways and corporate retreats or off-site meetings.
Here is a list of what I think are top attractions in Napa and the surrounding area:
1) The Wine - This is the obvious choice, but I have to include it. Napa Valley is renowned for its award winning wines. There are approximately 400 named wineries in the Napa Valley area. Obviously, some of these wineries are world-class, and some are simply decent. Check out a complete list of Napa Valley wineries here.
2) Bothe-Napa Valley State Park - This great state park is located near Calistoga and offers beautiful redwood trees, campsites, hiking, and horseback riding trails. If you come to Napa Valley, this is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while you are there.
3) The Petrified Forest - This is an amazing opportunity to see fossilized redwood trees. The forest is near Calistoga, and the beautiful setting makes it well worth the drive.
4) Spa Treatments - Napa has awesome spa facilities, and you won't want to miss out on the chance to rejuvenate, either a luxurious, high-end spa or at a more down to earth locale, such as the Golden Haven Hot Springs Spa and Resort.
5) Fine Dining - Napa Valley offers some world-class dining options as well as some excellent, down to earth favorites. Near the top of many Napa Valley dining lists are the following suggestions: Bistro Don Giovanni, Bouchon, Brannan's Grill, Wrappo, and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen. These are just a few tips to give you some ideas, but there are many great options in Calistoga, Yountville, St. Helena, and Napa.
